5) 23
23 steps lead to the top - quite a lot!
6) Cow, birds, cock, hen, pig
Incidentally, the pig is an Antonite pig. The Antonites were a Christian hospital order that specialized in caring for the sick who suffered from the Antonius fire - a disease caused by ergot-infested grain. The Antonites received piglets as gifts from the local population, to which they attached a bell (to distinguish them from the butchers', bakers' and millers' animals) and brought them to their begging areas. There they were fed by the population throughout the year - as this was supposed to bring good luck.
7) Library, café, museum
The former monastery of the Antonine Order now houses the town library, the Cafè Kunz and a museum dedicated to the Strigel family of painters and the Antonine Order itself.
8) Wallenstein
Wallenstein takes place in Memmingen every 4 years. Over 4,000 participants slip into historical roles and re-enact the events of 1630 in Memmingen, when the famous Bohemian general Wallenstein was in the town. The program offers a colourful variety of exciting theatrical performances, impressive equestrian and camp games, historical parades and authentic camp life. There is also a crafts market in the town center. The next Wallenstein Festival will take place from 26.07.2026 - 02.08.2026.
9) Trout
To be more precise, there are brown trout in the town stream. If you see very few or no fish in the stream, this is because our traditional fisher's day (Fischertag) took place beforehand.
10) 32
There are actually a total of 32 bridges in the old town, including the Schrannenplatz as a big bridge.
11) 1647
Incidentally, you can also discover a cannonball on the outside of the Lindauer Tor.
12) Cat
Chicco was a very special cat of the Holy Burmese breed. He lived near the market square and his territory was the entire city center. He felt at home everywhere - in countless stores, cafés, craftsmen's cars and bakeries you could usually find him sleeping in the displays in the middle of sweaters, blankets, boxes and on chairs and he liked to be stroked by almost everyone. Almost everyone in the old town of Memmingen knew him.
Date of birth: July 12, 2017
Date of death: January 9, 2023
You can find pictures of him on this page: Chicco-aus-mm.de

Here you may have to take a few steps away from the building so that you can also look up at the side gables of the roof. There you will find a unicorn on the right and left, four in the wall decoration between the ground floor and the second floor in the tendril frieze and one in the nose sign at the corner of the house. Incidentally, the building dates back to the 15th century.
15) 4
In 1525, the “12 Articles” were written in Memmingen by Sebastian Lotzer (seen in the foreground with a scroll), based on the dissatisfaction of rebellious peasants (seen in the background with weapons). The “12 Articles” were also supported theologically by Christoph Schappeler (seen on the right with a Bible).
