Our “liberty” tours - liberty, justice, self-determination and co-determination. These days, we take these terms for granted, but in earlier times, they were privileges. Experience more about the fight for liberty in former times in our city tours.

Our barrier-free city tours

Our special tour “Memmingen for wheelchair users” is completely accessible and barrier free. Tailored to the needs of wheelchair users, this tour visits the most important sights. For blind and severely impaired people, there is our special guided tour which makes it possible to bring our city history to life by touching and feeling models.

Our open doors

No time for an extensive city tour? No problem! Our “open door” venues allow you to discover Memmingen in no time at all. You can visit the 15th century Gothic Church of Our Lady daily from mid-March to mid-October between 3 and 5 pm. The Crusaders’ Hall is our baroque jewel which is open from April to October, Tuesdays to Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. You can visit St Martin’s Church daily from May to September von 10 am to 5 pm. If you want to enjoy the spectacular view from the church tower, you can do this daily from May to the end of October at 3 pm. The Info Point on the City of Civil Liberties at the Weinmarkt is open Mon-Fri 9 am to 6 pm and Sat and Sun between 11 and 5 pm.

Memmingen City Wall

Would you like to know more about our city wall? You will gain special knowledge about the unique fortifications in our guided tour "Magic of the Old Town - Linen and Leather - Proud Craftsmen". During this guided tour, you will not only learn a lot about the Memmingen city wall, but also climb the battlements at the Hohe Wacht - the fortified gun emplacement.

Factory tours

A wonderful alternative to get to know our city in a different way are our factory tours, where you can take a look behind the scenes. You can get a delicious guided tour at the Häussler bakery and enjoy its sweet, savoury and Christmas flavours. The Gefro soups and sauces headquarters also offers culinary delights, with a little nutritional advice on top. Allgäu Airport will take you on an exciting journey onto the tarmac and show you all the things your suitcase sees that are hidden from you. The Tourist Information team will be happy to advise you on your choice of factory tour.
