Guided tour through the Charterhouse (Carthusian Monastery) in Buxheim
87740 Buxheim
The Kartause Buxheim is the best-preserved former Carthusian monastery in Germany. Three baroque churches by the Zimmermann brothers are waiting to be explored. In addition to 3 different museums, a monk's cell can also be visited. The former Imperial Cartause Buxheim offers the visitor a work of art of European standing. Between 1687 and 1691, the Tyrolean woodcarver Ignaz Waibl, together with his collaborators, created the grandiose choir stalls. There is also something for the little ones.
Special children's tours teach the children about the world in which the monks lived in a fun and awe-inspiring way.
