Guided tour in Memmingen's city museum
87700 Memmingen
You can make a foray into the history of art and culture in Memmingen in the suite of rooms inside the late baroque city palace. A lively view into the past of the formerly free imperial city opens up, with exhibits on everyday life, the work of the merchants, the guilds, and the churches. Also impressive is the depiction of Jewish life up to its annihilation by the Nazi regime. Historical artistic highlights of the tour are the gallery with paintings by the baroque painter Johann Heiß, who was born in the city, and the faience from the Künersberg manufactory. The magnificent building with finely structured façades, a baroque staircase, and a beautiful courtyard reminiscent of a Southern palazzo, built by the city merchant Benedikt von Herman in 1766.
